Setting Reachable Goals

New year, new you, right? Well, we know it’s not all that easy. With the busy, on-the-go lifestyles most of us have these days, it’s hard to take time out for ourselves and make the changes that will have a lasting impact. The key to accomplishing those goals begins with one simple step: saying “yes.”

Once you say “yes” to yourself, you take the first step toward achieving your goals and potential. And what better time to embrace a new attitude than at the start of a new year? The beginning of the year is the perfect time to put some fresh (or old!) goals on the list and to start saying “yes” to yourself.

We’re here to help you establish a few goals (if you haven’t already) and to give you three simple steps to put them in motion. Get ready to check things off that list and feel like a new, self-loving you.

Be Realistic

If you have one big goal you want to achieve, break it into smaller sub-goals and take them on one at a time. If you have an abstract goal such as “being healthy” or “eating real foods,” try to break it into concrete steps, such as “cook at home during the week” or “meal prep on Sundays.” Find simple, measurable ways to meet your goals.

Be realistic. Start simple and stay simple. Pick a goal that you can cross off your list and move to the next one. It feels so good!

Enlist Support

Staying committed to your goals requires support; recruit some sideline cheerleaders! Grab a buddy and commit to your goals together. You can cheer each other on and support each other along the way. Or just have a friend who knows what your goals are and will help keep you accountable.

Get the kiddos involved too! Find ways to eat healthy and stay active as a family. Maybe go for a family bike ride on the weekend or cook together during the week. Whatever it is, do it together. Teamwork makes the dream work.

Love the Process

Don’t forget to be kind to yourself along the way. Remember that achieving your goals is a process, not just a result. Learn to enjoy those beautiful moments along the way and practice gratitude for all that you already have! Give yourself grace and compassion. Remember: working toward your goals is a process of loving and taking care of yourself.
