Nature Nate’s Honey Co. Continues Its Investment in Bee Health and Research at Cornell University for Sixth Consecutive Year
The number-one branded honey company reaffirms their commitment to positively impact bees, pollination and ecosystems through donation to Cornell University
MCKINNEY, TEXAS – September 10, 2024 – In honor of National Honey Month, Nature Nate’s Honey Co., the number-one branded honey company in the U.S. and producer of 100% pure, raw & unfiltered honey, has provided a financial donation to the Department of Entomology at Cornell University for the sixth consecutive year. As with previous donations, Nate’s investment will go toward honey bee health and pollinator research undertaken by the department.
“We are honored to continue our partnership with the incredible researchers at the Department of Entomology at Cornell University to strengthen bee health, build on best practices for pollination and, ultimately, improve the future of our ecosystems,” said Nathan Sheets, President and CEO of Nate’s. “Last year, research from the team helped inform the Birds & Bees Bill in New York that restricts the usage of neonicotinoid-treated seeds, which posed a frequent risk to bees and other pollinators. This type of practical research is critical to ensure honey bee populations survive and thrive.”
The Department of Entomology, part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Cornell, has many programs that support the research of honey bee health under its Pollinator Network. The Pollinator Network is a multidisciplinary group of researchers, extension personnel and students that work to understand wild and managed pollinators around the world. The Pollinator Network is a leader in bee research and prioritizes working closely with U.S. beekeepers to address real-world problems, including the impact of pesticides on the honey bee population and honey supply.
“We’re honored and proud to continue our partnership with Nate’s, who is dedicated to improving honey bee and pollinator health in the USA,” said Dr. Scott McArt, associate professor, Department of Entomology at Cornell University. “Support from Nate’s allows us to conduct scientific research, ensure our beekeeper workshops and extension programs are top-notch, and communicate with beekeepers, farmers, regulators and the public so the best evidence-based decisions can be made on topics such as pesticide exposure to bees, disease control and forage availability.”
The partnership is part of Nate’s Honey Gives Hope program that supports honey bee health, educates future generations of students and advocates for responsible and sustainable beekeeping practices. Nate’s also supports honey bee health programs at other leading universities across the U.S. that make significant contributions to honey bee research and practice. As a honey category leader, Nate’s proudly cares for tens of thousands of Nate’s Hives to promote responsible beekeeping and introduce more families to the goodness of pure honey, directly from the source.
