Celebrating Women of Hope

Event program for Women of Hope Awards Luncheon on a textured background.

“We want to be impactful with the things entrusted to us.”
– Nathan “Nature Nate” Sheets

Nate’s Honey Co. recently had the honor of being the Presenting Sponsor for the National Breast Cancer Foundations Women of Hope Awards Luncheon. The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) assists women by providing early detection, education and support services to those affected by breast cancer.

“Our own Nate’s family has been impacted directly and indirectly by the breast cancer health crisis. NBCF supports those facing breast cancer in our own families, in our communities and around our nation. Their mission and hard work mirrors our own commitment to help families in need. Working together, we can bring hope, help and heart to others.” – Nathan Sheets, Chief Steward and President of Nate’s Honey Co.

On this special day, we took time to pause and thank those leading and loving in the trenches of cancer. Here is a snapshot of what we experienced.

Nathan Sheets was honored to meet Lillian Shockney, a two-time breast cancer survivor.

The keynote speaker for the luncheon was Lillie Shockney, a two-time breast cancer survivor and Director of the Johns Hopkins Breast Center and cancer survivorship programs there. While her fifteen authored books and more than 250 published articles are impressive on their own, it was her hunger for life and people that left a mark in the room.

She not only speaks all over the world with some of the most influential people in her field, but also serves in the deepest trenches to love and lead women in their journey. She spoke with tears in her eyes and determination in her heart. Lillian is a powerful force in the world of breast cancer, and we were honored to share the room with her.

PATIENT NAVIGATION

Nate’s partners with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to support programs like patient navigation, which guide patients through and around barriers in the complex cancer care system. Lillian shared story after story of women who leaned on this program during their cancer journey and found support, grace and peace. The National Breast Cancer Foundation currently funds 34 patient navigator programs across the U.S. and is proactive in helping patients overcome the barriers of cost, fear and misinformation surrounding this disease.

A SPECIAL THANKS

“The impact can be huge with just a little bit of effort.” These words hit close to home as Nathan shared his heart for this cause and families going through this journey. His desire has always been that Nate’s would be driven by more than just the bottom line — that we measure success not just by what we achieve, but also by what we contribute. We believe wholeheartedly that honey is a vehicle to help those in need.

This beautiful event was a sweet reminder that hope can still be found in the most difficult of situations. To those who have walked or are currently walking the journey of cancer – we love you and support you. We are all in this together.

Relentless Quality.
Ridiculously Good Taste.
Confidently, the Most Trusted Honey.
