Bringing Hope for Breast Cancer Patients and Families with COVID-19 Relief Fund
As part of our ongoing promise to reach out to our community partners to assist with COVID-19 relief, we’ve been amazed by the incredible work done by so many. From healthcare heroes to homeschooling parents, it’s been heartwarming to witness the hope and resilience shown in hospitals and homes across the nation during these extraordinary times.
Through our Honey Gives Hope program, we have a longstanding partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), and we support their efforts to provide critical resources and programs to those facing breast cancer across the country.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, breast cancer patients are still facing their breast cancer journey and are more vulnerable than ever. During this time of ongoing change in our healthcare systems and addressing new challenges in an uncertain economy, breast cancer patients and their families need our help now. That’s why the National Breast Cancer Foundation has created the COVID-19 Relief Fund.
The relief fund provides life-saving patient navigation services, a program near and dear to our hearts. Over the years, our Nate’s family has funded a patient navigator, a dedicated expert who guides patients through and around barriers in the complex cancer care system. Throughout our partnership with NBCF, we’ve been honored to provide this blessing in the lives of many patients and their families.
NBCF patient navigators are on the frontlines to help breast cancer patients recently diagnosed or currently undergoing treatment. Treatment for breast cancer – radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies – may weaken the immune system. When the immune system is compromised, there is a greater risk for serious complications from viruses like COVID-19.
That’s why navigators are so important right now because they act as a liaison between doctors and patients and are trained to eliminate any barriers that may prevent a patient from accessing quality treatment.
If this pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that true change only happens when there is a collective effort, especially at such an uncertain time in our history. Ongoing support and funding are needed to ensure the most vulnerable patients have a voice and access to care.
Nate’s is contributing to the fund through a donation match, and we invite our Nate’s friends to join us as we support these heroic efforts. To learn more and donate, visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund.
