Blueberry Bourbon Smash
If bourbon isn’t your liquor of choice, feel free to exchange it for vodka, rum, or tequila to customize your cocktail. Did somebody say happy hour?
Yield 2 servings
Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
- ½ cup water
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme, including some for garnish
- ½ cup Nature Nate’s pure honey
- ¼ cup blueberries (fresh or frozen), plus a few for garnish
- 2 oz. fresh lemon juice (from about one large lemon)
- 3 oz. bourbon
- 1 oz. elderflower liqueur
Create a honey-thyme syrup by bringing ½ cup of water to a boil and adding 3 sprigs of fresh thyme. Remove from heat, and stir in honey. Steep at room temperature for about 20 minutes. Strain into a jar or bottle. (Store in fridge for up to two weeks.)
Then, muddle blueberries with lemon juice in a shaker or jar until all blueberries are smashed. Add 2 oz. honey-thyme syrup, bourbon, elderflower liqueur, and a handful of ice. Close the shaker, and shake for 30 seconds. Strain over ice in two rocks glasses. Garnish with a few fresh blueberries and a sprig of thyme.
