Nate’s Deepens Commitment to Bee Health and Ecosystems with Unified University Research Donations
The number-one branded honey company furthers its investment in pioneering research at Cornell University, University of California, Davis, and University of Texas at Dallas to safeguard honey bees and advance beekeeping
MCKINNEY, TEXAS – September 10, 2025 – Nature Nate’s Honey Co., the number-one branded honey company in the U.S. and producer of 100% pure, raw & unfiltered honey, announced financial donations to leading university research programs at Cornell University, the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), and the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas).
“At Nate’s, we believe the best honey starts with happy bees and healthy hives, and our long-standing partnerships with these esteemed universities are critical to that mission,” said Michael Carle, CEO of Sweet Harvest Foods, the parent company of Nate’s. “Our support for Cornell, UC Davis and UT Dallas allows us to amplify our collective impact on honey bee health, pollinator research and sustainable beekeeping practices across the nation.”
Cornell University
For the seventh consecutive year, Nate’s has contributed to the Department of Entomology at Cornell University. This investment supports bee health and pollinator research, including work that previously informed New York’s “Birds and Bees Protection Act” which restricts harmful neonicotinoid seed treatments.
“We’re so grateful for the support from Nate’s, which has allowed us to better support the beekeeping industry and improve pollinator health via evidence-based science,” said Scott McArt, Department of Entomology at Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell.
UC Davis
For the sixth consecutive year, Nate’s continues its investment in the UC Davis Honey and Honey Bee Research. The Faculty provides leading cutting‐edge research focusing on basic bee biology and genetics, addressing concerns about bee health, and meeting the needs of California’s multibillion dollar agricultural industry, which impacts the entire country. UC Davis’s top-ranked Department of Entomology and Nematology also supports pollinator research.
“We are so grateful for Nate’s generous support and excited to partner with a team that shares our commitment to bee health, pollination, education and community,” said Elina Lastro Nino, UC Davis Honey Bee Scientist.
UT Dallas
Nate’s continues its partnership with the University of Texas at Dallas, a collaboration spanning more than a decade, with a financial donation to support bee health, sustainability and pollinator protection.UT Dallas currently teaches two classes around honey bees, honey bee biology and honeybees and society, as well as has 18 un-mowed acres for pollinator habitat.
“The support we receive from Nate’s is instrumental in allowing us to continue running our educational apiary,” said Christina Thompson, Professor of Instruction, Hobsen Wildenthal Honors College, UT Dallas. “Giving students the opportunity to directly see the busy organization of a honey bee hive in person is the best way to teach them about these important pollinators.”
These partnerships are integral to Nate’s Honey Gives Hope program, which supports bee health, educates future generations of students and advocates for responsible and sustainable beekeeping practices. Nate’s also proudly cares for more than 3 billion bees through Nate’s Hives, which promotes responsible beekeeping and introduces more families to the goodness of pure honey, direct from the source.
“We’re committed to making an impact beyond our bottle,” said Becca May, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Innovation at Nate’s. “By investing in university research, we can better serve honey bees, beekeepers and our ecosystem. We’re proud of this decades-long program and excited for how it will evolve to be even stronger.”
